Pogradec to North Macedonia: 7-day eSIM checklist — 2026
A Lake Ohrid week spanning Albania and North Macedonia requires both countries to be checked by name in the actual package terms.
Local itinerary and connection decisions
Do not infer cross-border access from geographic proximity or from a phone displaying a nearby network. Save accommodation and transport records for both sides before leaving the first base. The confirmed Albanian host configuration describes the Albania part only. If the onward country is absent from the package, arrange an appropriate alternative and review the selected line after arrival. Keep travel-document and entry requirements with the responsible authorities rather than an eSIM planner.
Practical preparation
Separate the itinerary by country; preserve the next address without a cloud dependency; test the intended connection after the border before allowing large background downloads to resume.
A transparent 7-day data scenario
7 days × 240 MB per day = 1680 MB (1.68 GB). This is an editorial allowance for the tasks discussed here, not measured consumption, a minimum requirement or unlimited data. Video, backups and hotspot use can change the result substantially. Compare both data and validity with the current plans; the original calculator scenario remains available below.
Network configuration and its limits
The confirmed Vodafone AL/ONE AL configuration applies in Albania. It does not establish Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Greece entitlement: check the exact countries in the purchased package before crossing a border.
Vodafone Albania and ONE Albania are the confirmed host networks. The configured access includes 4G/LTE bands B1/B3/B7/B20 and 5G NR, with automated dual-IMSI/profile switching. No local KYC or physical registration is required for this roaming eSIM.
Albania roaming configuration confirmed by Volt Mobile on 16 October 2026; not an independent field measurement. A supported network or radio technology does not guarantee service at every location or a particular download speed.
Field notes for Albania travel (October 2026)
- Arrival: install the eSIM on trusted Wi-Fi before you travel, then switch it on after landing at Tirana International Airport (TIA) or arriving at Durrës port. Check your settings again before boarding the Corfu–Sarandë ferry. Do not depend on terminal Wi-Fi; activation timing follows the plan you bought.
- Coast: Volt Mobile configures Vodafone Albania and ONE Albania with automatic profile switching, which can help along the coast between Durrës, Vlorë and Sarandë. Signal and speed still depend on place, device and network conditions.
- Ksamil and Sarandë: close to the Greek border and the Corfu channel, a phone can attach to a Greek or other foreign network. Keep the Volt Mobile eSIM as your mobile-data connection, switch mobile data off on your home SIM, and choose an Albanian network manually if the phone shows a foreign one.
Roaming facts for this trip
Albania is outside the EU/EEA "Roam Like at Home" rules, so an EU home SIM may apply non-EU roaming tariffs there. Check your home operator's price before using the home line for data.
