eSIM Turkey Istanbul Airport: get ready before arrivals

Prepare your Turkey eSIM before the flight so maps, messages and your hotel address are easier to access after landing at Istanbul Airport (IST).

Choose your Turkey data package

Your trip, your data, your budget. Choose a package below and buy at a clear final EUR price, with two-network access on selected plans. All packages are data-only, without a Turkish phone number.

Validity starts on first connection to a supported network in Turkey. Check compatibility and carrier unlock before paying. Review the amount and terms at checkout. Already paid but not connected? Use the troubleshooting steps below before buying again.

One eSIM. Two network options for your Turkey trip.

Explore Turkey with access to Vodafone and Türk Telekom on our 1, 3, 10 and 20 GB plans. Unlike a single-network package, you have another supported network to select where available if reception on one is poor. Choose the flexibility of two networks for your journey, or our 5 GB Vodafone-only option.

Enjoy 5G where available on a compatible phone, with 4G and 3G connectivity according to local coverage. Pick your GB, see your final EUR price and install before you fly. Network choice gives you flexibility; actual speeds depend on your location, device and network conditions.

Check which Istanbul airport is on your ticket

Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) are different airports. Check the airport code on your booking and save the correct pickup instructions. This guide focuses on setting up mobile data, not live flight times, transfer prices or a guaranteed signal at a particular gate.

Save your accommodation address, booking reference and meeting-point instructions offline before departure. A working data connection is useful, but it should not be the only place you keep essential arrival information.

Install before you need airport Wi-Fi

Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked. Buy your preferred Turkey package with a stable connection. Once payment is confirmed and the eSIM is ready, retrieve the QR from your Volt Mobile account and complete installation over Wi-Fi.

The current Turkey packages start their validity on first connection to a supported local network, not simply when you download the profile. Install before flying, then select the Turkey line for mobile data when you arrive. Follow the roaming instructions for that line and keep your home-SIM data roaming off.

Pick an allowance for the rest of the trip

For a short stay with occasional maps and messages, 1 GB for 7 days may be enough if you also use Wi-Fi. It is not a promise of a full week of heavy use. The 3 GB option lasts 15 days; 5, 10 and 20 GB last 30 days.

All five are data-only packages. They do not include a Turkish phone number or ordinary call minutes. Messaging apps use the data allowance, while calls on your home SIM remain subject to your home operator’s charges. Check the catalog for current prices.

If the phone does not connect at arrivals

Confirm that the eSIM is enabled and selected for mobile data. Move to an area with better reception before changing settings repeatedly. The 1, 3, 10 and 20 GB plans list Vodafone and Türk Telekom; 5 GB lists Vodafone only.

If the issue continues, use Wi-Fi to contact Volt Mobile support with the order reference and a description of what the phone shows. Do not post the QR publicly, delete the profile or buy a replacement while the order is being checked.

Keep control of the data line

On iPhone, open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data), select the Turkey line and check that it is on. Select that line under Cellular Data and turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching if you do not want fallback to your home line. On Pixel, open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and choose the Turkey SIM for mobile data. On Samsung Galaxy, look under Settings → Connections → SIM manager. Menu labels vary by model and software. Enable roaming only as instructed for the travel line; leave home-SIM data roaming off.

Your arrivals checklist, with an offline fallback

Before boarding, save IST or SAW, the terminal or meeting point supplied by your transfer provider, your accommodation address and your order reference. Keep the QR private. Do not depend on being able to buy or download a new eSIM after landing; access to some international eSIM services can vary in Turkey.

After landing, confirm the travel line is on, select it for data and follow its roaming instructions. Temporarily turn Wi-Fi off to check the mobile connection. If the phone does not register, move to a better reception area and follow the connection checklist. Airport Wi-Fi access rules can change: use official airport information rather than an assumed free allowance or login method.

Do not hand an unlocked phone with your account or QR open to an unknown person. If you need help, use airport staff or Volt’s official support. Saved directions and tickets let you continue the arrival process while a connection issue is investigated.
