About IST for eSIM planning
Istanbul Airport (IST) is one of two Istanbul airports; the other is Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Check which airport your ticket names before you travel. Typical first stops are Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu, Galata and Kadıköy.
Before you fly
Check that the phone supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked, then buy the plan while you still have a stable connection. The QR code and activation details appear in your Volt Mobile account after verified payment and fulfillment.
Install the profile at home or in the departure lounge, label it Turkey, keep data roaming off for your home SIM and leave the eSIM line switched off until you land.
After landing at IST
Switch the Turkey line on, set it for mobile data and wait for a Turkish network to appear. Use M11 metro or Havaist coaches from IST. Check the operator's current stops and timetable for your onward connection.
Which plan to pick
The 1 GB plan lasts 7 days and suits a short stay with maps and messages. The 3 GB plan lasts 15 days. The 5 GB, 10 GB and 20 GB plans last 30 days. Turkey plans are data only: no Turkish phone number or calling allowance is included, and the free trial is available for Albania only.
Network and device information
Plan details updated 2026-10-17. Coverage and speeds vary by location and device. Check compatibility and save your transfer details before travelling.
Network names are the supplier listing per plan: 5 GB lists Vodafone 5G only; the others list Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G. Speed, signal and indoor coverage vary by place, building and device.
