Turkey answers: Izmir

Data planning for two weeks in Izmir

For a 14-day stay in Izmir, validity is as important as the data allowance. A 3 GB plan lasts 15 days, while a 1 GB plan lasts 7 days and will need a follow-up plan if you need data throughout the trip.

Match validity to the length of your stay

The 1 GB plan costs €1.39 and is valid for 7 days. It can suit the first part of a trip, but its validity ends before a two-week stay is over, so a second plan may be needed for the remaining days.

The 3 GB plan costs €3.99 and is valid for 15 days, giving it enough validity for a 14-day visit. If 3 GB is enough for your expected usage, it avoids the need to replace a plan simply because its validity has ended.

For longer validity, the 5 GB plan is €6.99 for 30 days and is listed on Vodafone 5G only. The 10 GB and 20 GB plans are valid for 30 days and cost €9.99 and €22.99 respectively.

Estimate your data across 14 days

At a light planning estimate of 150 MB per day, a 14-day trip uses about 2.1 GB. The 3 GB, 15-day option is therefore a practical fit on paper.

At 400 MB per day, allow around 5.6 GB over two weeks. A 3 GB plan may run out before the trip ends, so you may need a second plan; 10 GB provides more room for this estimate.

At 1,000 MB per day, the total is about 14 GB. The 20 GB, 30-day plan leaves a larger data margin. These are planning assumptions, not a prediction of every traveller’s use.

Use local notes carefully

Coverage varies by place and building. This applies whether you are arriving through Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), spending time in central Izmir, or travelling around the Aegean coast.

Supplier listings include Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G, but this is not a coverage guarantee. Check your handset supports eSIM before purchase and review the plan details for the network shown.

Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should check their own operator’s tariff before relying on their usual SIM.

Choose data for 14 days

Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.

  • Light use (150 MB a day, about 2.1 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
  • Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 5.6 GB in total): 10 GB Turkey, €9.99, 10 GB for 30 days.
  • Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 14 GB in total): 20 GB Turkey, €22.99, 20 GB for 30 days.
