Turkey answers: Izmir

Set up your Volt Mobile eSIM before your Izmir flight

Install your eSIM QR code before departure so your phone is ready to use data after landing at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), rather than looking for a physical SIM queue. A few minutes on reliable Wi-Fi before you fly can make the first connection simpler.

Why install the QR code before departure?

An eSIM is digital, but adding it still requires your phone to download and configure the plan. Doing that before your flight means you can use reliable Wi-Fi, read each screen carefully, and keep the QR code available if you need it again.

Once you land, switch on the eSIM line and select it for mobile data as instructed. This is useful whether you are continuing to central Izmir or the Aegean coast, without needing to buy or fit a physical SIM first.

Mobile coverage varies by place and building.

Your pre-flight eSIM checklist

1. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked for use with other networks. Confirm that your device has space for another eSIM profile if you already use one.

2. Choose your data plan, purchase it, and save the QR code and installation instructions somewhere you can access offline. Do not delete the eSIM profile after installation unless support tells you to.

3. Connect to Wi-Fi, open your phone’s mobile-network or eSIM settings, then scan the QR code and follow the prompts. Give the line a clear label, such as “Turkey data,” so it is easy to identify later.

4. Before boarding, check that the new line appears in your settings. Follow the plan instructions for enabling the line and data roaming, then keep the eSIM ready for use after landing.

5. When you arrive at ADB, turn off airplane mode, enable the eSIM line, and select it as your mobile-data line. If your phone allows data switching, consider turning it off to avoid using data from your usual SIM unintentionally.

Pick data with your trip in mind

Volt Mobile Turkey eSIM plans are data-only and do not include a Turkish phone number. Available options are 1 GB for 7 days at €1.39, 3 GB for 15 days at €3.99, 5 GB for 30 days at €6.99 on Vodafone 5G only, 10 GB for 30 days at €9.99, and 20 GB for 30 days at €22.99.

For simple planning, estimate about 150 MB, 400 MB, or 1000 MB per day depending on how heavily you expect to use mobile data. Downloading content and using data-intensive apps can change your needs, so leave some room in your estimate.

Supplier listings include Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G, but this is not a coverage guarantee. Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so check your own operator’s tariff before travelling and make sure your usual SIM is not selected for mobile data by mistake.

Choose data for 3 days

Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.

  • Light use (150 MB a day, about 0.45 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
  • Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 1.2 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
  • Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 3 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
