Turkey answers: Bodrum
Activate your Bodrum eSIM before you fly
Set up the eSIM profile while you still have a reliable connection, rather than looking for a physical SIM after landing at Milas-Bodrum (BJV). With the QR code installed before departure, you can turn on your data line when you arrive and get moving without joining a SIM queue.

Why install the QR code before departure?
An eSIM needs an internet connection to download its profile. Doing that at home, at work or on a trusted Wi-Fi connection gives you time to complete the setup, check that the line appears in your phone settings and keep the QR code safely stored until installation is finished.
Do not switch the eSIM on for mobile data until you are ready to use it in Turkey. Before flying, label the line clearly, keep your usual SIM selected for calls if needed, and make sure mobile data switching is set the way you want it.
Your pre-flight setup checklist
1. Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. Buy the data-only plan you want, then open the QR code on another screen or print it so your phone can scan it.
2. Add the eSIM in your phone’s mobile-network settings while connected to Wi-Fi. Follow the on-screen prompts, name it something clear such as “Turkey data”, and confirm that the new line is listed.
3. Leave the eSIM installed, but set it to use mobile data only after arrival. At Milas-Bodrum (BJV), turn on the Turkey eSIM, select it as your mobile-data line and check that data roaming is enabled for that eSIM if your phone requires this setting.
4. Open a map or message app to test the connection. Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should check their own operator’s tariff before leaving their regular SIM active for data.
Choose data and check the network near the coast
For lighter use, 1 GB for 7 days is €1.39; 3 GB for 15 days is €3.99. For longer stays or more frequent map, messaging and browsing use, choose 5 GB for 30 days at €6.99, 10 GB for 30 days at €9.99, or 20 GB for 30 days at €22.99. The 5 GB plan is Vodafone 5G only. As a simple planning guide, allow around 150 MB, 400 MB or 1000 MB a day depending on how much you use data.
Supplier listings name Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G, but this is not a coverage guarantee. Around marinas and the Aegean coast, a phone can attach to a neighbouring Greek island’s network; check that it is on a Turkish network, Vodafone TR or Türk Telekom, and choose the network manually in mobile-network settings if it is not. coverage varies by place and building.
Choose data for 3 days
Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.
- Light use (150 MB a day, about 0.45 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
- Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 1.2 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
- Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 3 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
Networks and device compatibility
