Which airports and areas should I plan for in Istanbul?
Istanbul has two airports, Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Install and test the eSIM before you queue for a taxi or a train, because transfers depend on maps and ride apps. Typical first stops are Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu and Galata on the European side and Kadıköy on the Asian side.
How do I get from the airport once I have landed?
From IST, use the M11 metro or Havaist coaches. From SAW, use the M4 metro or Havabus coaches. Check your onward connections for Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu/Galata and Kadıköy with the relevant operator. Keep the eSIM line as your data line and leave the home SIM for calls and SMS if you need them.
