Day 1: Arrival, directions and settling in

Whether you land at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), keep your first-day data for maps, messages and confirming your next step. Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu, Galata and Kadıköy are typical first stops, so it helps to save key locations before you leave the airport.

Metro and Havaist airport buses connect the airports with central districts, but routes and timetables change. coverage varies by place and building.

For a light-use weekend, 150 MB a day is a useful planning assumption. If you mainly need directions and chat, 1 GB for 7 days at €1.39 can suit a brief trip.

Day 2: Your full exploration day

Your middle day is usually where data use rises: repeated map checks, sharing photos, searching for nearby options and keeping in touch with fellow travellers. A 400 MB daily assumption offers a more comfortable starting point for this kind of use.

If you expect regular navigation and social use across the weekend, consider 3 GB for 15 days at €3.99. For heavier use around 1000 MB a day, more data gives you room to stay connected without constantly checking your balance.

Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should check their own operator's tariff before relying on their usual mobile plan.

Day 3: Departure without last-minute data stress

On departure day, reserve enough data for directions, travel updates, messages and any changes to your route to IST or SAW. Downloading what you need while on Wi-Fi can also help make your remaining data last.

Volt Mobile lists 5 GB for 30 days at €6.99, available on Vodafone 5G only; 10 GB for 30 days at €9.99; and 20 GB for 30 days at €22.99. Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G are supplier listings, so service can differ by location.

For a three-day break, choose around your expected daily pattern rather than the calendar length alone: light 150 MB days, typical 400 MB days, or high-use 1000 MB days.

Choose data for 3 days

Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.

  • Light use (150 MB a day, about 0.45 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
  • Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 1.2 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
  • Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 3 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
