A 7-Day Istanbul Itinerary With a Practical Data Plan
A week in Istanbul can move quickly from airport arrival to exploring different districts, so it helps to treat mobile data as part of the itinerary. This guide maps out a simple seven-day rhythm and explains what the 1 GB, 7-day plan can realistically cover.

Set up your week from arrival day
Day 1 can begin at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), with data ready for your arrival and onward planning. Metro and Havaist airport buses connect the airports with central districts, although routes and timetables can change.
For a simple seven-day structure, make Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu, Galata and Kadıköy your main district days, then keep Days 5 to 7 open for returning to the areas that suit your trip. coverage varies by place and building.
Check your remaining data at the end of each day rather than waiting until you need a map, message or booking confirmation. This makes it easier to adjust before your allowance is low.
Budget data across all seven days
Use 150 MB, 400 MB and 1,000 MB per day as three practical planning levels. At 150 MB a day, seven days comes to around 1,050 MB, so a 1 GB plan is close to a full week but may not cover every day. At 400 MB a day, 1 GB may last about two days; at 1,000 MB a day, it may be used in roughly one day.
The 1 GB plan costs €1.39 and has 7-day validity. The validity period is the amount of time the plan remains valid; it does not mean that 1 GB is automatically enough for seven days of heavier use.
Keep lower-data tasks for moments when you have Wi-Fi where available, and reserve mobile data for the moments when you need it most. Your actual use will depend on the apps and media you use.
If your 1 GB runs out before Day 7
If the 1 GB allowance is used before the seven-day validity ends, plan the remaining days as needing another data option. The unused part of the validity period does not add more data to the allowance.
For travellers who expect more daily use, Volt Mobile lists 3 GB for 15 days at €3.99, 5 GB for 30 days at €6.99, 10 GB for 30 days at €9.99, and 20 GB for 30 days at €22.99. The 5 GB plan is Vodafone 5G only. Supplier network listings include Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G, not a coverage guarantee.
Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should also check their own operator's tariff before relying on their usual mobile plan.
Choose data for 7 days
Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.
- Light use (150 MB a day, about 1.05 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
- Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 2.8 GB in total): 3 GB Turkey, €3.99, 3 GB for 15 days.
- Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 7 GB in total): 10 GB Turkey, €9.99, 10 GB for 30 days.
