Why add the QR code before you fly?

An eSIM is downloaded to your phone, so the setup is easier to review before your journey than after you land. Save the QR email or installation details where you can access them, and follow the supplied activation instructions when it is time to use the plan.

A pre-installed profile can help you focus on your next steps after arriving at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), instead of making a physical SIM purchase your first priority. Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should also check their own operator’s tariff before travelling.

Your step-by-step flight checklist

1. Check that your handset is unlocked and supports eSIM. 2. Choose a data amount and purchase the plan before departure. 3. Connect to stable Wi-Fi, open the QR code or installation link, and add the eSIM to your phone. 4. Give the line a clear label, such as “Turkey data,” so it is easy to identify later.

5. Keep your usual SIM selected for calls if needed, as these plans are data-only and do not include a Turkish phone number or a free trial. 6. Before boarding, keep the QR and order details available offline. 7. After landing, turn on the eSIM line and follow the supplied settings instructions to use mobile data.
