From landing to your first stop

You may arrive at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), then head towards areas such as Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu, Galata or Kadıköy. Metro and Havaist airport buses connect the airports with central districts, but check current routes and timetables before travelling.

Install your eSIM and download any essential map areas while you have a reliable connection. Keep booking references, addresses and ticket QR codes saved on your phone, and take screenshots of anything you may need to show later.

Coverage varies by place and building.

Estimate data for one day

For a light day, allow around 150 MB for occasional map checks, messages and ticket access. This suits travellers who mostly use Wi-Fi when available and keep video use low.

Around 400 MB gives more room for regular navigation, photo sharing and frequent messages while moving between neighbourhoods. If you expect to stream media, make video calls or upload many photos, plan closer to 1,000 MB for the day.

Maps can consume more data when you repeatedly search, reroute or load new areas. Downloading map areas in advance and using screenshots for tickets can help preserve your allowance.

Choose a plan and keep essentials working

Available options are 1 GB for 7 days, 3 GB for 15 days, 5 GB for 30 days on Vodafone 5G only, 10 GB for 30 days, and 20 GB for 30 days. For a one-day visit, the validity period gives you extra time before or after your Istanbul day rather than setting a daily limit.

Vodafone 5G and Türk Telekom 5G are supplier listings, not a coverage promise. Before leaving your arrival point, confirm that maps load, messages send and your tickets are available offline or as screenshots.

Turkey is outside the EU/EEA, so travellers should check their own operator’s tariff before relying on their usual mobile plan.

Choose data for 1 day

Estimate your data use for maps, messages and video, then choose your Turkey plan. Actual usage depends on your apps and Wi-Fi availability.

  • Light use (150 MB a day, about 0.15 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
  • Moderate use (400 MB a day, about 0.4 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
  • Heavy use (1000 MB a day, about 1 GB in total): 1 GB Turkey, €1.39, 1 GB for 7 days.
